Common Core State Standards - Mathematics

We stand on a precipice while adapting the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in our mathematics classrooms.  The key to successful implementation includes a balance between procedural skills, conceptual understanding and the ability to apply the mathematics in context.  Research concerning mathematics reform and educational reform in general has taught us that teachers should be allowed to adapt (not adopt) the standards to their particular context and needs of their students.
